Rev. Sharrell L. Norman Howard

Rev. Sharrell Louise Norman Howard was born October 29, 1984 in Atlanta, Ga.  She is the eldest child of Rev. Darrell A. Norman and Minister Carla Norman Davis.  She attended the public schools of Fayette County and graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 2002.  She continued her education at North Carolina A & T State University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural Engineering with a concentration in Lighting and Electrical Engineering in December, 2006. She received her Masters of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix in December of 2012 and an MBA in January of 2017.

Sharrell has served the church in many capacities all of her life.  She worked in her youth group at the church throughout grade school until graduation from high school.  After enrolling in NCA&T State University, she joined the Shekinah Outreach Ministries of Evangelism, Inc. where she was a member of the choir, director of the dance ministry and the ministerial fellowship.  She was a sojourner to El Salvadore as a part of Shekinah’s mission outreach program.

In the middle of the night, on October 14, 2002 Rev. Sharrell heard the call of the Lord into the ministry. Understanding the weight of this task and responsibility, she began diligently preparing herself for work in the ministry.

While in college, she joined the Citadel of Praise where she preached her initial sermon and received her license to preach on September 14, 2003.  In April 2005, she became a founding member ofThe Ramp Church International and was ordained into the Christian ministry in September, 2005.  After her marriage to Rev. Steven L. Howard, she joined Greater Bethel AME Church, Charlotte, NC.  At Greater Bethel, she was a Youth minister and Director of the Praise Dance Ministry. 

In June 2007, Sharrell became a founding member of Destiny Church, Charlotte, NC.  She was ordained as an Elder of the church on June 6, 2008.  At Destiny, she was the Youth Church School teacher, Director of the Praise Dance Ministry, and Director of the Hour of Destiny television program which is broadcast weekly on cable channel 21.

Rev. Sharrell is very active in the community. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She is active in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program in Charlotte. 

Rev. Sharrell worked as a Job Captain/IT Specialist for CBA Design Build, Inc., Charlotte, NC, January 2007 to August of 2010. After a downturn in the architecture and engineering industry she realized a passion for teaching architecture and engineering in a high school setting. She worked at Mallard Creek High School as the Co-Director of the Academy of Engineering and Engineering Teacher. She is currently the Academy Coordinator for Charlotte Engineering Early College.

She married the Rev. Steven L. Howard, March 4, 2006 and they have three beautiful children, Samuel James Howard, Sydney Denise Howard and Silas Alexander Howard. She and her husband are stepping out hand in hand to answer the call of obedience and fulfill the call in which God has placed on their life.
